Alsace is one of the pioneer regions of France for natural wines.
Today, almost 100 winegrowers have either converted to or specialise themselves in “nature” wine, and many other estates in Alsace also offer “nature” wines in their range of products.
But what is a “nature” wine?
It’s made from grapes using organic or biodynamic methods for their growing, followed by vinification without the use of any inputs.

Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts (i.e. those present on the grapes), with no oenological additives, and no sulphur is added (or added in absolutely minimal doses) during bottling.

You’ll discover unusual wines, new tastes, a different approach to winemaking, astonishing varietal blends and new colours (notably maceration wines with their beautiful orange colour).
You’re sure to enjoy a unique experience with winemakers who are passionate about what they do.

9:00 am: departure from your place of residence.

9:45 am: arrival at the first estate of the day: a family estate close to a typical village. The winemaker’s creativity is reflected in his wines. You’ll discover the world of Alsace’s natural wines and how they’re made.

11:30 am: after a stroll through the center of Barr, you’ll have lunch in a traditional Winstub, the famous Alsatian bistro where conviviality and authentic dishes reign.

2:00 pm: departure for a second estate. In the midst of the vineyards, this estate, which is recently created by young enthusiasts, offers its vision of natural wine and will show you how they approach this different way of working.

4:00 pm: visit the 3rd and final estate of the day, where you’ll discover a vineyard that’s been in the family for many generations, and which -since the arrival of the “younger generation”- has turned to “designing” so-called natural wines (it means, with no oenological inputs, just grape juice and nothing else!).

6:00 pm: arrival to your accommodation.
