Description
Alsace is well known for its great white grape varieties: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Pinot gris, grown in the 51 Grand Cru appellations, as well as Sylvaner, Pinot blanc and... the region’s only red or rosé wine: the Pinot noir. Crémants sparkling wines - much appreciated here and elsewhere - are also on offer, rounding off the wide choice offered by Alsace’s winegrowers during tastings. Alsace wines, mainly whites, have been famous since the Middle Ages! Records show that vines were already being cultivated in Alsace in the year 900, in some 160 villages.
Located between the eastern slopes of the Alsace plain and the plain itself, the vineyards of Alsace stretch for a total of almost 200 km.
From Thann, in the south of the region, to Wissembourg in the north, France’s oldest and most famous wine route allows you to discover our beautiful vineyards. The landscape is constantly changing, between hillsides, valleys and hills, on the plains and at the entrance to several valleys of the Vosges mountains..
The climate is continental, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. The hills of the Vosges protect the Alsace plain.
The terroirs on which our vineyards are planted are also extremely varied -they are the identity card of our wines- and produce nectars of great finesse, giving them very distinctive personalities.
The combination of grape varieties and terroirs results in an infinite range of tasting experiences.
Come and discover the vineyards, the wines, the people who make them, and the art of living in Alsace. It’s a wine tour that will delight your senses, and one in which you’ll learn while - and this is a priority - having fun!
Highlights:
- Total immersion in the world of Alsace winegrowers and their wines.
- Three different vineyards, each with its own personality and history,
- Landscapes, villages and the Wine Route in Alsace, all offering great photo opportunities.
- Tasting of white wines from different terroirs and single-grape varieties, famous crémants, our pinot noir and other surprises, depending on the personalities of the winemakers we meet.
- Advice on tasting, serving and pairing wines & meals…
