Alsace Family Tour
from your accommodation
Description
Around Colmar and in the heart of the valley of the city Munster , you’ll discover 2 completely different facets of Alsace.
The Alsace of the vineyards, with tastings in 2 wine cellars (similar to the Classic tour), but also the Alsace of the “High Vosges”, with its farm inns (lunch can be taken in a farm inn), its stubble fields and its breathtaking views over the Alsace plain.
The famous Munster cheese comes from this region of Alsace, and you’ll be able to taste it and probably discover how it’s made.
Depending on the weather, the farmhouse meal can be followed by a hike in the beautiful Vosges countryside (bring appropriate equipment, please).
Your children and you can have fun discovering the region’s wines, estates and artisanal products. It’s a fascinating getaway for all adventurers and epicureans.
Highlights:
- The whole family can sample local produce.
- Discover the flavours of Alsace with real producers.
- The magnificent scenery of the Vosges mountains.
- Advice on wine tasting and food pairing throughout the day.
- Tasting of white wines from different terroirs and grape varieties, crémants, pinot noir and other surprises based on the winemakers’ personalities.
Your day
9:00/ 9:30: departure from your place of residence. (only in Colmar and surroundings)
9:45/ 10:15: arrival at the first winery of the day, located near a typical village. The warm, welcoming atmosphere is reflected in the wines. You’ll discover the estate’s cellar and vineyards, and taste the best vintages.
12:00 pm: after a short climb (by van, of course), you’ll arrive at one of Alsace’s prettiest peaks - the so-called Petit Ballon - where you’ll have lunch in a typical farm inn. The innkeeper will serve you delicious regional mountain dishes based on recipes handed down from generation to generation in Alsace. Of course, you’ll be able to taste the famous Munster cheese and many other specialties from our Alsace!
2:00 pm: depending on the weather, you and your children can take a short digestive walk to the top of the Vosges with a magnificent view of the Munster valley, the Alsace plain and the Black Forest (in Germany!)!
A visit to a “marcairie” (the place where people bring milk and where cheese is made) will delight young and old alike.
4:00 pm: Visit the 3rd and final estate of the day, where you can discover a vineyard that has been in the family for generations. Talk to the winemaker about his way of making wine and his favorite grape varieties!
6:00 pm: return to your accommodation.
(This outline program may vary subject to the weather and traffic conditions, as well as the opening hours of the estates)
