Alsace Shared Wine Tour
FULL DAY SHARED
Alsace Wine Tour
Starting from Basel, for example
Description
The diversity of the estates and terroirs offers a unique and exclusive panorama of the viticulture in Alsace, its “Crus” and “Grands Crus”. We’ll dive into the secret world of wine, cellars and winemaking with very interesting and highly committed people. We will travel together on the famous Wine Road between Thann or Guebwiller and Colmar, and, of course, the well-known regional gastronomy in Alsace won’t be far away from us!
Your day
9:30 am: Departure from an agreed meeting point.
10:15 am / 12:00: arrival at the first vineyard. The estate has been in the same family for several generations. Each generation strives to preserve and enhance the work of the previous one. This family and generational dimension is a strong marker in the history of wine making in Alsace. We will taste the wines of the estates and talk to the winemaker about his history, personal philosophy, terroir and winemaking methods.
12:30 pm / 2:00 pm: lunch in a typical village, in a winstub (the “table of friends and wine”, in Alsace) where you will enjoy typical regional dishes!
2:00 pm / 3:30 pm: visit and tasting at our second vineyard. This winery is unique in that it offers both organically grown wines in the purest tradition in Alsace (wines made from our 7 grape varieties) and also wines made with natural methods; those which will “shake up” your taste buds with new aromas and different flavours!
3:45 / 4:45 pm: visit our third vineyard, where you’ll taste 5 or 6 wines that are the pride and joy of the winemaker. To round off the day of discovery and sharing, you may enjoy a walk through the vineyards, on the hillsides, with a beautiful view of the plain of Alsace and the Black Forest a few miles away in Germany (on the opposite side).
5:30 pm / 6:00 pm: return to the starting point.
Highlights:
- total immersion in the world of Alsace winegrowers and their wines,
- three different domains, each with their own personality and history,
- landscapes, villages and the Wine Route: opportunities to take great photos,
- tasting of wines from different terroirs and single-grape varieties, famous crémant, our pinot noir and other surprises, according to the production of the domains,
- advice on tasting, serving and pairing wines & meals…
At the beginning of the trip, we will have a short masterclass and we will be happy to explain the distinctive characteristics of Alsace wines, their specific 7 grape varieties and their terroirs, as well as the winemaking processes.
(This typical program may vary according to weather and traffic conditions, as well as the opening hours of the scheduled wineries).
